Tyrol Tour with T2

We enjoyed a long weekend with friends and their VW T2 camper van.

From Munich we drove to our first stop for the night. Near Garmisch we parked the van near a little river. It was fun to experience once again, that it is absolutely easy going to organise yourself, cook, sleep with four adults in that small van.The next day we got up early, enjoyed a coffee and drove to the Reschensee in Italy. We made breakfast and enjoyed the great panorama. On the lake we spotted some brave windsurfers. We made an easy and beautiful hike up the still green ski slopes.

It's the end of October

Next stop Merano (I) for an overnight stay at the public parking lot in front of the railway station. The parking space is for free, but be warned: even in the coffee bar at the station that opens at 6 o’clock in the morning there is no toilet. We enjoyed our evening at the Römerkeller with a good Italian dinner.

Next day we made an even more beautiful hike near Merano, in the region where the Haflinger horses come from, called Meltina in Italian.

We spend the evening in the thermal bath back in Merano with sauna. For the night we looked for a parking space a bit away from the city.

The following day at Bolzano was more relaxed. Sightseeing, great cappuccini and sweet pastries. We bought speck and cheese and drank a Spritz in the warm autumn sun.

In the afternoon we drove in the direction of Gröden – a few years earlier Claudia and me spend our first shared vacation there. The VW T2 fought bravely up to the Grödnerjoch. A bit under the Grödnerjoch In the direction of Colfosco there is a parking space for the start of a few Via Ferrata. We spend the night there. What a spectacular view + fantastic night sky with millions of stars.

In the morning the sun flooded the valley beneath us with its warmth, while around us was still a thin layer of ice. That was definitely the highlight of our little trip.

Beautiful day ahead!

After a first self made coffee with cream we drove back via Austria and than back home.
I guess we will look for a camper van now.
