Lao

Lao is special. Its very friendly people spoke nearly no English, but were always eager to get in contact. In the northern part of the country that we travelled through, we couldn’t see any significant industry.

Lao was the starter for an on the ground round trip starting in Bangkok, going to the north of Loa, than north to south through Vietnam, east to west in Cambodia and returning to Bangkok.

Route: From Bangkok – Vientiane – Luang Prabang – Phonsavan – Plain of Jars – Sam Neua – to Hanoi

The most impressive experience was strolling through Luang Prabang in late afternoon and hearing the monks chant, at first from only one monastery, but more and more joined the chorus while the majestic Mekong flow calm and steady as I did for centuries.
